NBN and the need for speed –
The NBN rollout has disappointed many customers with reports of slow speeds and constant dropouts. There is an ongoing debate between the National Broadband Network (NBN Co.) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on where the issues lie. Are NBN not meeting the market demands or are the ISPs not purchasing enough bandwidth on the network for their customers?
Australians can choose certain speed tiers when purchasing a retail plan via the NBN; however, latest reports show the number of complaints about internet speed are constantly increasing despite the project being over 50{1f125d81ae85bed3a151f062ab6e4c3e063cc58f373c23f561306ad2b03a9be2} completed.
The use of old copper wires degrades the internet speed connection so ISPs and NBN are unable to offer any guarantees on the dropouts and best connection speeds. Furthermore, when it comes to Fibre to the Node (FTTN) connection service, the further the home or business connection is from the node, the worse the connectionwill be.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is currently commencing a national broadband monitoring platform to crosscheck speeds and performances among ISP providers.
Telstra is also planning to release the NBN speeds to the public later this year; this should help internet users understand what speed connections to expect from the network during busy hours.
